Tigers Roar into 2026 with Strong Round One Showing
Mirboo North Football Netball Club has kicked off the 2026 season in style, delivering an impressive performance across the courts in Round One against Toora.
It was a dominant start for the junior sides, with the 13 & Under team setting the tone early, securing a commanding 35–4 victory. Marley Dowel was recognised as Best on Court, while Olivia Snell received the Coaches Award for her leadership.
The 15 & Under side faced a tough contest, going down 24–19 despite a strong effort. Emily Ludlow was named Best on Court, with Lexi Gostling earning the Coaches Award.
In one of the closest games of the day, the 17 & Under team edged out Toora 21–19 in a thrilling finish. Charlotte Evans claimed Best on Court honours, while Kyah Murtagh was recognised with the Coaches Award.
Mirboo North’s senior teams also made a statement. D Grade secured a convincing 37–19 win, with Stacey Harriage leading the way as Best on Court and Belinda Alexander receiving the Coaches Award.
C Grade fought hard but fell short, with Toora taking the win 33–23. Elly Hysen was named Best on Court, while Sophie McGrath received the Coaches Award.
B Grade delivered one of the standout performances of the round, dominating with a 47–17 victory. Indi Eden earned Best on Court recognition, capping off a special day as she also celebrated her 50th senior game for the club. Holly Chilla received the Coaches Award.
The A Grade side capped off the day in emphatic fashion, defeating Toora 49–19 in a strong all-round performance. Emily Taylor was awarded Best on Court, while Louie Patten received the Coaches Award.
The club also extended its gratitude to the many local businesses who continue to support the Best on Court and Coaches Awards, highlighting the strength of community backing behind the Tigers.
With a successful opening round in the books, Mirboo North will look to carry this momentum into the weeks ahead.
